Mtaani Riba meaning “Community Voice” is a civic engagement initiative by Black Pen Community Based Organization designed to strengthen communication between communities, service providers, and local leadership in Njiru Ward.
Many residents in low income and peri-urban areas lack access to timely information, digital platforms, and safe channels to express their concerns or contribute to decision making processes. This disconnect often leads to exclusion, misinformation, and limited community participation in development initiatives.
Mtaani Riba addresses this gap by leveraging accessible digital tools such as USSD, SMS, and online platforms to enable inclusive community feedback, information sharing, and engagement ensuring every voice counts, regardless of access to smartphones or the internet.

Community members dial a short USSD *258# code, SEND FREE SMS TO 5698485 or visit our CHAT BOT on their mobile phones to access the Mtaani Riba platform.

Black Pen CBO plans to scale Mtaani Riba into a multi-community engagement platform, integrating it with other programs such as education, health, and youth empowerment initiatives to strengthen grassroots development with the integration artificial Inteligence (AI)
