Black Pen Community Based Organization was registered in 2019 and has since evolved under the visionary leadership of its co-founders and dedicated members who are still a vital pillar of the team. The organization was born out of a collective vision to empower the community, especially young people, through programs that address economic, social, and educational needs.
We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Through local programs, volunteer initiatives, and community partnerships, we work to create safe, supportive, and vibrant neighborhoods.
“This organization has transformed our community. Their programs bring people together, support local families, and open doors for those who need it most. I’m grateful for the care, compassion, and dedication they show every day.”

From youth mentorship and educational workshops to outreach events and volunteer projects, our programs are designed to uplift and empower. We welcome people of all backgrounds to join us, share their talents, and help create lasting positive change. Whether you want to learn, contribute, or connect, there’s a place for you here.
At Black Pen Community Based Organization, we believe that lasting community transformation begins with empowered youth and informed communities. Our theory of change is simple: when young people and vulnerable groups are given access to knowledge, skills, platforms, and opportunities, they become agents of positive change within their families and communities.
We identify community needs and work closely with local stakeholders to design practical, youth-led solutions. Through education, digital skills, health awareness, community media, entrepreneurship, and environmental action, we equip young people with the tools they need to make informed choices and build sustainable livelihoods.
We envision establishing a four-storey multipurpose community facility in Shiranga, Saika Sublocation (Njiru Ward) to serve as the heart of Black Pen CBO’s work and community engagement. This space will host all our organizational activities while providing a safe, inclusive environment for young people and the wider community.
The facility will function as a business incubation and networking hub, supporting youth entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration. It will include training rooms, an ICT laboratory, a community library, talent development and creative spaces, recreational areas, and dedicated facilities for TV, radio, and music production nurturing both emerging and raw talent. Through this centre, we aim to expand access to opportunity, amplify community voices, and accelerate sustainable youth led development.
